This week’s guest brings a different perspective to WealthTech Unwrapped and interviews our host, Ned, instead. Reuben Lim, COO of the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA), shares how the SFA helps FinTech startups build their businesses and talks about the FinTech and WealthTech landscape in Singapore and overseas.
Speaking about the SFA, Reuben talks about the newly established SG FinTech Club that focuses on networking and talent development. SFA also works closely with Enterprise Singapore (ESG) to promote the vibrant FinTech landscape locally and globally. He believes that as more banks are digitalized, the term FinTech might disappear in the near future as it becomes universal and prevalent. We’re already seeing digital financial services embedded in everyday lives in Singapore, with mobile banking and payment services like Apple Pay, PayLah! and PayNow.
Reuben then takes the reins and turns some questions regarding WealthTech to Ned. They discuss the rise of embedded finance and whether financial services companies should buy the technology or build it themselves. Going further, Reuben and Ned talk about how embedded banking across industries can benefit both the institutions and individuals.
